NISO, or the National Information Standards Organization, is a non-profit organization that develops and promotes technical standards in the information industry. Since its establishment in 1939, NISO has been a leader in developing consensus-based standards for information transfer, management, and retrieval. NISO’s mission is to facilitate the creation, coordination, and maintenance of information standards that are relevant to the information community and support the efficient operation of information services.
NISO Plus is an annual conference hosted by NISO that brings together information professionals, publishers, vendors, and technologists to discuss the latest trends and issues in the information industry. The conference provides a platform for attendees to exchange ideas, network with peers, and learn about new developments in the field.
The first NISO Plus conference was held virtually in February 2020, and since then, the subsequent events have also retained the online format. This has made the event more accessible to attendees from around the world.
NISO Plus 2023 took place from February 14-16 and featured a range of speeches, presentations, and panel discussions on various topics related to information standards and technology.
As a proud sponsor of NISO Plus 2023, Kriyadocs is excited to be part of this year’s conference. We attended several insightful and informative sessions covering a broad range of topics, including:
- Data management and interoperability
- The importance of persistent identifiers (PIDs)
- Digital preservation and archiving
- Standards development and implementation
- Challenges in peer review
- The importance of bibliodiversity
- Ethics in information management
