London Book Fair 2026

The London Book Fair 2026 was an exciting and eventful three days brimming with innovation and inspiration. It was an opportunity for us at Kriyadocs to underscore our commitment to scholarly publishing and build connections with fellow scholarly publishing professionals who share our passion for publishing.

From the Booth

Across the three days at Booth 5C131, Ravi Venkataramani (CEO) and Jason De Boer (Growth Director) spent time connecting with publishers and peers, sharing ideas and exchanging perspectives.

At the Tech Theatre

Our panel discussion at London Book Fair brought together a full room and a shared question, how is the role of the journal publisher changing?

Joined by Adam Sewell (Chief Technology Officer, IOP Publishing) and Natalie Jacobs (Chief Product Officer, Emerald Publishing), Ravi Venkataramani led a discussion grounded in both early signals from our “Future of Journal Publishing” industry survey and lived experience.

Several themes stood out.

Peer review remains the foundation, but pressure is growing
Research integrity and high-quality peer review continue to sit at the core of publishing. But rising AI-generated content, alongside ongoing challenges like paper mills and reviewer fatigue, is making this harder to sustain. Supporting and recognising reviewers is becoming more important.

Discovery is shifting quickly
AI-driven search is changing how research is found. Traditional traffic patterns are becoming less predictable, and publishers are beginning to explore new approaches such as generative and answer engine optimisation (GEO and AEO), alongside stronger metadata and trust signals.

AI adoption is deliberate, not wholesale
There is clear interest in using AI to improve workflows and efficiency. But adoption is cautious. Publishers are piloting tools, setting boundaries, and keeping human oversight central.

Operational pressure is forcing focus
Financial constraints and evolving models are pushing organisations to prioritise. Legacy systems and fragmented workflows are increasingly seen as barriers to long-term sustainability.

Trust and transparency are central
Across all themes, trust remains critical. Clear communication, especially around AI use, and a continued focus on purpose-led publishing are key to maintaining credibility.

Collaboration will matter more
Many of these challenges are shared. Upskilling teams and working more closely across the industry will be essential to navigating what comes next.

Journal publishing is being reshaped not by a single shift, but by several, unfolding at once. Our task ahead is to evolve what works, while preparing for what is changing.

The Future of Journal Publishing:
What Publishers Are Changing Right Now

Publisherspeak Industry Survey | Launching 19 February 2026

Scholarly publishing is at a turning point.

AI integration is accelerating. Submission volumes continue to climb. Research integrity challenges are becoming more complex. Financial sustainability is under pressure.

At the same time, the fundamental purpose of a journal remains unchanged: quality control, dissemination of research, and community stewardship.

So how are publishers building the journal of the future?

About the Survey

The Future of Journal Publishing survey examines how organisations are responding in real time to industry transformation.

We analyse:

> Where AI is embedded across editorial and production workflows
> How research integrity processes are evolving
> Which workflow pain points are highest priority
> How teams and skills are shifting
> What revenue diversification strategies are being explored
> Where inter-publisher collaboration is most needed

The survey is concise and structured to generate actionable insights while minimising response burden.

Why Participate

Responses from the survey informed our discussion at the London Book Fair and continue to shape ongoing insights.

On 11 March, we hosted a dedicated session: The Future of Journal Publishing

We presented early findings from the survey with expert panelists discussing:

> What is changing fastest
> Where publishers are investing
> What may define competitive advantage in the next three years
> Where collaboration is essential

Why a unified platform matters now

Journal publishing workflows are complex. Editorial, peer review, production, and delivery often rely on separate tools and handoffs, limiting visibility and slowing progress.

A robust, unified journal platform supported by expert services empowers publishers to address immediate operational challenges and enable long-term transformation.

When workflows are standardized while still allowing flexibility where it is needed, publishers gain clearer oversight and stronger control over both process and data.

This is the foundation of how we are approaching future-ready publishing solutions at Kriyadocs.

The Kriyadocs Unified Publishing Ecosystem supports end-to-end journal workflows with clear structure and transparency. It enables teams to manage processes, metadata, and handoffs within a single environment, reducing fragmentation across the publishing lifecycle.

With over 20 years of experience in the scholarly publishing industry, we deliver editorial, production, data conversion, and accessibility services are delivered through the same platform ecosystem.
