Explore insights from the breakout sessions at Publisherspeak UK 2024, published as open access articles in Learned Publishing. The breakout sessions covered four timely and pertinent themes of Research integrity (chaired by Sophia Anderton, BJU International), Environmental sustainability (chaired by Emily Cockburn, Cambridge University Press and Assessment), Interoperability (chaired by Caroline Burley, Royal Society of Chemistry), and Research communities (chaired by Joe Kelly, Microbiology Society).

We are excited to announce the return of Louise Russell as the Conference Chair for Publisherspeak UK 2025! With her proven expertise in scholarly publishing and digital strategies, Louise will once again lead the way at our conclave in London.
Louise has over 25 years of experience in the scholarly communications sector spanning editorial, product/digital, and senior leadership roles. In her current role as Director of Tutton Russell Consulting, Louise provides specialist consultancy to publishers, societies, universities, and vendors internationally. In an evolving and increasingly dynamic landscape Louise brings an external perspective – supporting organisations as they explore new products and business models, review current processes, operations and commercial arrangements, and refocus their strategy for the future.

Ian Mulvany is CTO at The BMJ Group. Previously he was head of transformation at SAGE Publishing. He helped setup SAGE’s methods innovation incubator SAGE Ocean following a lean product development approach. He ran technology operations for eLife, was head of product for Mendeley and ran a number of early web2.0 products for Nature Publishing Group.He is passionate about creating digital tools that support the research enterprise. He is interested in the interplay between different stakeholders that can lead to the sustainably of these kinds of tools.
